[10/3/06 - KTRK/CONROE, TX] During National Banned Book Week, a tenth grade English class at Caney Creek High School was given "Fahrenheit 451" as a reading assignment. One of the kids objected and her father, one "Alton Verm", is trying to get the book removed. Why? His reasons include: "All the cussing", "God's name in vain", "downgrading christians", "burning the bible" and talking bad about firemen.

For anyone who doesn't know, "Fahrenheit 451" is an excellent commentary on government attempts to control the thinking of the people. In this case, by employing "firemen" to burn all books (paper burns at 451'F). The publishers are most likely loving it. You just can't buy that sort of press.
