Genetically Modified Foods

Overview

Just say 'NO' to GMO's.  Surveys tell us that an overwhelming majority of Americans support labeling of genetically engineered (GE) foods.  And now studies show that genetically modified crops pose a dangerous risk to the environment.  "Such crops have been shown to kill beneficial insects like lacewings and ladybugs, as well as Monarch butterflies and beneficial soil fungi.  Although the agro-chemical companies say that the Bt toxin breaks down rapidly in the soil, recent studies have show that the toxin accumulates in the soil and remains active at least 234 says. The result was completely unexpected." Kansas City Star

Genetically modified foods are now found more and more on America's dinner tables without the necessary testing to determine what health risk they may pose to humans. There is much concerns over the risks of eating GE foods and scientist can't say whether they are absolutely sure that this food is actually safe for human consumption.   It's only been five years since GE foods were introduced into the marketplace, and already two-thirds of the foods on America's supermarket shelves are genetically engineered or contain GE ingredients.  About one-fourth of our nations crops are genetically engineered.

Below are some links to many groups who are fighting against GE foods and how you can take action.
