This may sound odd and very contrary to the simple life, but this morning I am very grateful for this computer and for all working appliances! And being able to afford the electricity to run them...

It's funny how this works! When I read other people's gratefuls I feel grateful for their good things too! Even when I'm a grumpy bear about my own life! (Which isn't all that bad!)

Grateful for the end of a day and soon the end of a year!

I am grateful for the new year and eager to start my garden. I am looking forward to exercising, being outside,  learning new things, and finishing my first year homeschooling.

I do not feel like i am wanting for anything but instead I am enjoying all the possibilities i now have. Looking for ways to reuse things is fun and keeps me busy. I havent watched a tv for two months now
I think I am finially getting away from all the consumerisem that pleuges so many of us (well, its less anyway)

I am grateful for...

The wonderful time I spent with family on New Year's day.
The beautiful snowfall that made everything magic.
The warmth of the fireside.
The companionship of our two fine dogs.
Waking up to the smell of fresh coffee.
A terrorist-attack free New Year's eve, etc.
A new year filled with hope and promise!!

We don't get much snow here. But I would love for it to snow for a day or two so the kids can play in it. It will be in the 60's for the next few days so I guess there's no chance of that.
I am grateful that the weather is pleasant, that I have my family all at home relaxing and enjoying each other's company, that we are learning to stay frugal even when we don't have to.

I am greatful for my sweetheart getting excited about our new garden to be. I am greatful for the good deal on houseplants we found yesterday, they make this house feel even more like home. I am greatful for the chance to wear shorts yesterday and last night. First time I havent been cold since I moved here. I am greatful for all the craft ideas spinning around in my head and the stacks of antique recipies I found in the house that I want to copy to paper and use. I am also greatful for my love's friend who is becoming like a wonderful mother to me as she is to mike  and as a christmas present got him two pairs of brand new glasses and an eye exam.

Today I am grateful for:

Finding a wonderful church with warm, welcoming members.
My DH surprising me last night with dinner at a new Thai place!
Having a safe, warm house during these nights where the temp is 13F.
Finding the home of a stray dog yesterday so he could be safe and warm.
Having a pantry stocked with good food so if it snows/ices we don't have to go out.
Having lots of new books to curl up with in front of the fire.

I am grateful for the warm weather we had last week. It is now very cold.
Yes, I am still pregnant. But I am grateful that means a healthy baby. Even though I am past my due date.
I am grateful to still be able to enjoy simple meals form the garden. I had a salad for lunch that was wonderful.

It's freezing outside. Today I am grateful that I don't have to go out, for warm blankets, hot soup, and good books.

Dropping by to check on everyone's gratefuls... Good to see. My computer is behaving slowly on this site now and tends to crash, but since I'm being slow this morning myself, thought I'd add my grateful exercise here today!

*Snow is beautiful!
*Heat is good tho' I curse paying the bill!
*Have possibly two parties interested in being customers so far -- just need a few more in order to make it work this year.
*Have parties interested in neighborhood garden network.
*Practicing frugality works wonders towards self-sufficiency.
*Winter hibernation = peace
*Establishing an edible hedge for privacy ensures better relations, less potential bickering/complaints?
*Great coffee perks up the morning!
*Others are doing the urban homesteading thing too!
*Sometimes just simply rethinking a problem or issue makes a situation much better!

EVERYONE:  HAVE A GOOD DAY AND KEEP WITH THE POSITIVE ATTITUDES!

Wildside,

I don't get the thing with the neighbors not liking your front yard. I have seen some absolutely beautiful edible gardens.

There is no reason why you can't have beauty, good design and edible landscaping all rolled into one. For example, we are planning on adding a hedge of blueberry bushes between our house and our next door neighbors (in order to blot out their gross, garbage filled yard). This way we'll have a nice hedge, berries to munch, lovely fall color and beautiful red and yellow bark to look at during the winter.

There's so much you can do to achieve your goals and still keep the neighborhood happy. (I assume--of course we don't live in a real snobby area...)
