I am attempting ON A MINI-SCALE to introduce a few sustainable practices into the world of B&B. I have a beautiful 100 year old river front home with elegant rooms, a compost heap and organic herbs. Many of the folks who stay with me are interested enough to ask a few questions about the compost heap. This is a very small start but maybe it is something.

Interesting website. If you ever need any information on mold (toxic or allergenic); specifically how water intrusions can affect the built environment, feel free to give me a call and I'll do what I can to direct you to some good resources on IAQ issues and water damage and fire and smoke damage disaster restoration issues for homes and commercial buildings.

I was unschooled from birth to college and I highly recommend it. My mom has written a book on unschooling called The Unprocessed Child: Living Without School.

I am FREAKING OUT! I am so grateful for this website as a resource. My wife and I are closing on a house next week in a wonderful neighborhood in the city, but we are halfway through Ralph Borsodi's "Flight From the City." Needless to say, I started having second thoughts about city living for the first time. I love the city, with its art galleries, recycling, mass transit, etc. I knew there must be someone looking to become self-sufficient without moving way out into the country. (A quick search for "urban homesteading" pointed me to your site.) Thank you, thank you. I'll stop back often.

Thank you so much for sharing your lives with everyone and all your efforts and the outcome are inspirational. My husband and I moved to northern Michigan. We like to call it God's country. But, we are now on a course of increasing the size of our garden, adding some chickens and trying to sustain ourselves in this way too. It is, as you say, truly freeing. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for the wonderful site. I am an old "Mother Earther" from the 70's but always have more to learn. There actually seems to be more and more people from the populated areas of Western Washington returning to their roots. Sites like yours are a delight to mention to them. A note to other guestbook readers: I get my seeds,if I don't have any, from the foods I eat (tomatoes, squash, etc) from the grocery store.

I've been "lurking" around your website for quite awhile now. Gotta say you have a really well done website. I've ordered catalogs that you've showcased on your site and done business with these people. We live on ten acres in western new york, still buried by snow and ice but my heirlooms are thriving in the back bedroom waiting for the day.... Thanks for all your doing.
