Versions: All standard MS Windows programs not specifically written for Windows '95 or NT.
Description: Various error messages may appear or data may not print when trying to print or send data to a network-attached printer in Windows '95 NT or other 32-bit operating system, due to the new method used by Windows to reference printers over the network by a printer path vs. a printer port. Standard Windows 3.x programs support printing to ports, not paths.
Workaround: Use Start / Settings / Printers to display the installed printers. Find the printer you want to use and double-click on it (for example HP LaserJet 4+). Select Printer / Properties / Details and press the Capture Printer Port button. Select LPT1, 2 or 3 (for example LPT1) and select the network path for this printer (for example \\mdifs\mis_print) and click OK, then click Apply, and click OK. From the program where you originally received the error, reselect the printer (which should now be listed as being on LPT1, 2 or 3) and try again.
Resolution: Fixed in 2.1R for Windows '95. Printing to Windows NT from RAM-FLASH-DISK, MergeServer, or SC4000 is still not possible for a different reason.
