If the printer locks up when trying to print a status page, or initialize or program a e-Forms chip, there may be a problem with printer firmware. See the workaround and Special Note below.
Workaround: Turn printer power off, remove the e-Forms chip and make sure the blue jumper is pulled off for the printers that need it removed (P-series.) Reinstall the e-Forms chip in the recommended slot (see below.) Turn the printer back on. First initialize the e-Forms chip, then print a status page, then proceed to program the e-Forms chip. Thereafter, before initializing, printing a status page or programming, cycle the printer power off and back on. Wait for the printer to complete programming prior to cycling power and then sending the request for a status page; wait for the lights to stabilize and the single READY light to be on before sending data to the printer.

Special Note: The 6P's firmware appears to be somewhat
touchy where the use of ROM e-Forms chips (such as ours) is concerned. We
therefore recommend, before returning a e-Forms chip for exchange, trying
the following procedures:
