Power Supply Design, 2nd Ed. by Abraham I. Pressman. This is a fairly
painless introduction that covers the basics from the Buck & Boost
topologies, to Push-Pull, Half&Full Bridge, Flyback. Transformer design
for each type is discussed. There is also one chapter on transformer design
by itself. Other Miscellaneous topics applicable to SMPS are also
discussed, including a little bit on RCD snubbers. There is also a section
that shows many waveforms associated with different SMPS topologies, taken
from an oscilloscope. A great tool for debugging your first SMPS

Switchmode
Power Supply Handbook by Keith Billings. This is a much more advanced
book. It discussed the same basic concepts, but at a much more technical
level.
