Hi, i recently purchased the MPLAB-ICD. However since my notebook did not have an rs232 port, i used a USB to serial converter(UC-232A) to overcome this problem. But when i connected the ICD to this port and launched the IDE, it would not detect the ICD (something about the comm port and baud rate). The literature with the converter stated that the UC-232A installs as a virtual port driver on com3. If anyone has experienced this problem or knows how to correct the problem, please contact me.|Delete 'P-' before: '' but after: 'email@1n0s.com asks:

/techref/piclist/www.1n0s.com Having problem with PIC16F874 UART operation concerning the TRMT bit. Microchip says that the TRMT bit = 0 while the shift register is shifting. BUT, I found that it does NOT seem to work in the sense that if I wait for it to go high then turn TXEN = 0 then part of the Tx shifted out data is truncated! Anybody else experience this?|Delete 'P-' before: '' but after: ' /techref/piclist/swathir2001@yahoo.co.uk could you please help this girl in doing project .

The project is abt
"convert a count value to a pattern for a seven sement display .and convert an anlogue to digital convertor from a temperature sensor(DS1620) to the actual temperture .Create text strings for display on LCD".
I tried the program by making A/D(taking analogue signals from DS1620 and converting to digital) conversion in pic16f876 but i dont know what's wrong but unfortunately it is not working.I got a doubt here that wheather A/D conversion actually happens in DS1620 or should i have to do in pic16f876.
If u dont mind could you please send me the code for that program (if not atleast subroutines for that).By chance is it anyway related to your program in 11th chapter.I would be great full to you if you help me in finishing my project successfully.
Thanking you and eagerly waiting for your reply.

Hi, I'm new to pic programming and was looking over Tom McGahee's combination lock program. I was wondering if there's a way to multiplex a 7-segment LED to display the number pressed? Need answer urgent mail me, thanks in advance.|Delete 'P-' before: '' but after: 'www.gsmzone.z.pl

I want to build a small project, HEART RATE MONITOR, My device will use a red LED and a photo-sensor paired in a manner that will be able to measure ones heart rate through blood reflectivity changes in the index finger. Then I will use a low pass filter, and comparator to digitize the pulses then enter it to PIC16F84 microcontroller to calculate number of pulses per minute and display it on 3-digit LED display (153-1005-ND).
The micro-controller will continuously be checking if a signal is fed into it. Once a signal is detected the algorithm will begin as follow:
1) Set the timer to zero.
2) Increment the timer for every peak of the digitized signal.
3) Repeat step two until timer equals 5, and the time taken to reach the 5 counts (Na) is stored.
4) Calculate the beats per minute using equation: BPM = 12Na.
5) Send the heart beat rate to the LED display.
6) If the reset button is pushed the routine will reset.
can you send the program to me,please

I am currently working on my senior project for college, which involves creating custom MIDI controllers for an interactive sculpture. Currently, I am trying to interface Sharp GP2D15 sensors to a 16F84, but I have hit a roadblock in my limited knowledge. My code is working properly, as I have tested it with normal switches and such. Here is the problem from my understanding of it: The GP2D15 has an open-drain output (Vo) which needs to be pulled-up to Vdd in order to get an output voltage. If I then connect Vo to an input pin on the PIC or to the base of a transistor for example, then the input pin is also recieving voltage from Vdd through the resistor. I am thinking about this in the wrong way? Has anybody been able to successfully connect these Sharp IR sensors to the PIC. Thank you in advance.HELP ME with PIC 12c672
