SendDlgItemMessage info Overview Group

The SendDlgItemMessage function sends a message to the specified control in a dialog box.

LONG SendDlgItemMessage(

HWND hDlg,

// handle of dialog box

int nIDDlgItem,

// identifier of control

UINT Msg,

// message to send

WPARAM wParam,

// first message parameter

LPARAM lParam

// second message parameter

);

Parameters

hDlg: Identifies the dialog box that contains the control.
nIDDlgItem: Specifies the identifier of the control that receives the message.
Msg: Specifies the message to be sent.
wParam: Specifies additional message-specific information.
lParam: Specifies additional message-specific information.

Return Values

The return value specifies the result of the message processing and depends on the message sent.

Remarks

The SendDlgItemMessage function does not return until the message has been processed.

Using SendDlgItemMessage is identical to retrieving a handle of the specified control and calling the SendMessage function.
