This page solved a conundrum that I have been grappling with for years.  Have a follup query: does attempting to program these parts without the workaround kill them?  I have two parts that I attempted to program before coming across this post, and they will not program even with RB3 pulled down.  Two parts that I had not attempted to program work fine.<BR>

Hi, i too am new to programming pics.  im trying to program the PIC16F877 to be a realtime clock and to output the time on an LCD display (pref 4 bit to the LCD) if anyone has code or knows where i can find an exmaple of a real time clock i would be so grateful.
