I would like to know how to contact the owner of the piclist (james...@geocities.com). 14th Dec.2007 I searched for a solution to do Ascii-hex to bin conversion with PIC processor (through USART of PIC16F628). I used Google to search with following keywords: "ascii hex to bin piclist" and immediately got a response: "Attention! You are requesting pages too fast! piclist.com is not to be snatched for personal use without remuneration and will not be mined for email addresses." -- "The way you are browseing this website makes me think that you are a robot, a web "spider" that follows links and "captures" pages to copy a site or extract information from it. Since you are not a known Search engine robot, you are probably copying the site for your own personal use or to resell or you are looking for email addresses to send SPAM to." -- " My SPAM Log (of reported abuses) http://www.massmind.org/undertakingmawkish.asp How did I know? http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/active/html/index.html Excessive page requests (faster than a human could) no, proxies don't trigger unless they block source ip Repeatedly following non-human accessable links mailto:@@@@@@@ MailTo:@.@.@.@ @.@ .@. .@.com .@..com error@invalid@page@exception@hahahaa!!!mailto:: @nospam mailto:@NOSPAM.com nospam@com.com.com me@nospam.server.nl.com.uk.ca.edu.gov.exe spammer at dot dot com fakeaddress at dot com dot com dot com dot com dot com $?®¶??å?¾ø@hotmail.com &&$@blah.n?t We like it when email harvesters crash " The tone of the response message was not polite. I have tried to contact the list owner -- the mysterious James Newton and ask why I was accused of harvesting as it was the first Google search to piclist I did that day -- but got no reply.ON 20080219@8:56:56 AM at page: http://techref.massmind.org/techref/member/pekka_pic-yahoo-/index.htm#39497.3728703704 James Newton[JMN-EFP-786] See also: /dontripthissite.htm This issue is explained on this web page. The bock is easily reversed by the user. Adjustments have been made to reduce the sensitivity of the trap.
I would also like to know why: http://techref.massmind.org/techref/piclist/... maintains a public list of e-mail addresses for spam harvesters (Piclist subscribers 200106)?
We maintain a list of the email addresses that we have been spammed by and email addresses that point back to the spammers and their ISP's. We do not list the subscribers to the piclist. All piclist subscriber emails in the archive are obfuscated to prevent harvesting. My present work e-mail address is listed there. I used to be a piclist member using that e-mail address. I'm absolutely positive I have never spammed. I insist you prove that my e-mail address on that list is due to spam actually sent by _me_ and not on my behalf through a mail server that I know was -- about ten years ago -- due to non-competent postmaster of the time configured to do relaying! I feel that publishing any kind of e-mail lists is not going to help reducing the spam traffic in the web. Only legistive action taken in US aginst marketing through the net will cut the amount of spam by reducing the funding of spammers -- nobody wishes to spam if there is no money coming in. I think that by publishing e-mail addresses you are fighting aginst the spam from the wrong end of the stick. I do get over 100 spams a day to the work e-mail address that you insist on keeping on the public list. Pekka Siiskonen ' at: '' James Newton refers to
