Hello, I'm glad to meet you. I'm an American living on the East Coast of the USA. I'm interested in learning PIC programming under Linux. I use the Red Hat Linux distribution. At the moment, I'm attempting to decide what type of PIC programmer hardware to acquire. I am unsure whether to try Myke Predke's "El Cheapo" programmer or buy a prebuilt programmer like the Warp 13-A. I can hardly read a circuit, to start with. My soldering skills are weak and I don't know how to do point-to-point wiring. Myke does not offer instructions for how to build the El Cheapo programmer on his web site. He publishes the circuit and a parts list which is not too helpful for someone new to circuit construction. Perhaps he felt publishing instructions would be too much work. If I get the Warp 13-A, I will at least know it is ready to use and can accept various PIC MCU's. I can drive straight into PIC programming, provided I can find Linux-based software that will work for this. Does anyone out there have a software distribution for the Warp 13-A in tarball format, with source code?
