Current Projects

I'm currently fiddling with a conversion of a model glowplug engine to petrol. This will eventually have an automatic advance & retard unit with a PIC inside. Current status can be checked at my website.

I also have a working PWM speed controller for radio control model boats. At the moment this uses a single FET for switching the motor and a relay for changing direction. It works well enough, but I can't help feeling that it would be much neater using two surface mount complementary FETs to implement an H-bridge.

Professionally, my last project has been an update of an old product. This is a programmable school crossing hazard warning controller. If you live in the UK, then you will be familiar with this device as it flashes the amber traffic signal outside your local school. Our company have been the UK patent holders for this product for about the last 12 years and it has been redesigned to make it more suitable for use with newer technologies i.e. Solar power and LED lamps.
