I have seen one device to which print is attached (centronix parallel port ) it uses only 5 wires to connect to pronter  .. how it is possible in centronix parallel port? printer  used is epson LX300 and it uses parallel port of printer and not serial .. |Insert 'By useing only one or two pins of the parallel port in a "serial" mode. Imagine sending data to the printer via the parallel port, but the printer only reads the last bit of each byte.
