I am designing a project that involves an lcd. A keypad is used to enter a password and if the password is correct, then a gate opens. I want to include an lcd in this project. I am thinking of using an lcd that is hd44780 compatible. However i am unsure of what chip to use to input the signals into the lcd. It needs to have 8 data channels and an additional 3 outputs to control the r/w, enable and rs. What chip could i use for this, and what program could i use to program the chip? thanks|Delete 'P-' before: '' but after: 'James Newton replies: Just about any Microcontroller would be appropriate. I recently experienced a problem with an LCD panel. Vertical lines appeared, red, green and gray. I narrowed it down to the lcd panel manufactured by Mitsubishi. Is there any recovery for these panels after this type of failure. Just checking as I do not know of any.'
