Getting Started

Once you have installed Index Server, you can quickly set up your site for full-text searching of all the documents you publish. To help you get started, Index Server comes with three sample files:

Query.htm
Query.idq
Query.htx

By default, you will find these files in the /IisSamples/IsSamples virtual directory, mapped to the following UNC path:

\Inetpub\IisSamples\IsSamples

Important Because Getting Started and the Tour use the same sample files, you will need to make duplicates, and name the duplicates as follows:

Sample.htm
Sample.idq
Sample.htx

This section contains:

Editing the Sample Query Form: Tells where to move the sample form and how to edit it.
Editing the Sample .Idq File: Explains how to edit the sample .idq file to work with the sample form.
Testing Your Search Form: Describes how to test your form by walking you through a query on your Web site.
