I cant believe that you say this is not standard. Most personal checks have the check number listed either between the routing and account number or after the account number. But standard location of the check number on a business check is before the routing number. As for a check not needing a MICR to be valid....this is true but try to get a bank to cash a napkin or goat for you. Not with Check 21 standards in place now. '
