Printer NetBOX

Verify that the printer is online and "Ready efplus.com" is displayed on the printer front panel. If you do not see that message, the NetBOX on the back of the printer is missing, has no power from its AC adapter or is defective. Click here for information about the NetBOX and how to connect it.

Printer paper load

Load the paper into the printer with the registration keypacket stock in the lower tray and plain white paper in the front, pull down tray (sometimes called the "manual feed"). More information about how to load this stock is available here. At some properties with very old printers, it may be necessary to load the stock the other way around (registration key packet in the front tray and plain paper in the lower tray) simply due to the printer being so worn that it can not pull the stock from the lower tray. If so, change the setup below to match the actual size of the paper in the trays.

Printer Setup

  1. Press the green check mark on the front of the printer
  2. Press the down arrow until you see "PAPER HANDLING" then press the green check mark
  3. Press the green check mark on "TRAY 1 SIZE" (Tray 1 is the pull down tray in the front of the printer)
  4. Verify that it is on "LETTER", if not press the down arrow to change it to "LETTER"
  5. Press the green check mark to save. Wait.
  6. Press the down arrow until it is on "TRAY 2 SIZE" and press the green check mark. (Tray 2 is the slide out tray under the printer)
  7. Verify that it is on "LEGAL", if not press the up arrow to change it to "LEGAL"
  8. Press the green check mark to save. Wait.
  9. Press "Pause/Resume" to return to "Ready efplus.com"

  1. On the work station, minimize Nova Plus by clicking on the underline in the upper right corner.
  2. Now click Start-> Printers and Faxes.
  3. Double click on HP LJ 2420 xxxx POS EFPLUS where xxxx is your property name.
(note: There is an HP LJ 2420 xxxxx POS without the EFPLUS. Be careful to pick the EFPLUS printer) .
  4. A small box will appear: Select the Printer drop down menu from the upper left area.
  5. On the drop down menu, select Set as default printer.
  6. You should see a black dot with a check mark in it appear in the upper left corner of the printer icon.
  7. Close the list of printers by clicking on the X in the upper right corner.

A login script that correctly sets the default printer could be of great use here... If one is set up, the user should be able to just log out, then back in, and the default printer will be set correctly.
