Originally it was designed with a display from MicroEmmissive Devices, but they went bankrupt. Then changed to a backlit LCD from Kopin. That is now EOL. So, what microdisplays are available? The MED one was nice in that it had a standard SPI interface and a driver. I just told it which pixels to light and it took care of it. No refresh needed. The Kopin display requires continuous video (and pretty complex with phase inversion on every line and every frame). I did this with the SPI interface on a PIC. The image bitmap was put in RAM and an SPI interrupt picked up the next 8 pixels to send. So, I'd really like to find an OLED microdisplay with an SPI interface. Ideas? Thanks!
