I'm about to finally finish a Qi design project ... Jesse - interest only : I rode on an inductive power transferred "trolley" in a university hall in 1973 - 400 Hz !!! - Prof Don Otto (long dead). He had numerous IPT patents which tend not to be cited by subsequent :"discoverers" in the area from the same institution in later years. In about 2000 I produced a prototype inductive power system - target was power transmission to a warehouse picking system with many powered "bins" . I used a 100 meter loop for the demo - this included highish speed bidirectional signalling across the power loop. There was one now long expired US patent with mu name on it. A friend did earlier IPT development in association in his own company and also in conjunction with Auckland University - who they sold their patent rights to at one stage. Lots of fun :-).
