Two applications: room temperature space heater, and high temperature electric kiln. What materials are typically used to thermally and electrically insulate heating coils. Where can I get it? Are some insulating materials easier to work with? I will likely be making custom coil forms/insulators/spacers/etc. I think (hope) the industry has moved beyond asbestos based materials. I've done some searching and have yet to find a good overview of the materials.
