The batteries are LTO / Lithium Titanate / Lithium Titanium Oxide / Li4Ti5O12 (see my updated SE answer) I saw a 25000 cycle figures in some of the battery data (and this is typical for LTO) - the "over 5000" cycles may be a cautious assumption or they may have let a realist loose :-). An excellent example of LTO batteries from a reputable manufacturer with very extensive experience is Toshiba's SCiB cells. These have been on the market for over a decade. These show (1st graph in ref below) *40,000 cycles *at over 90% of original capacity (!!!). Memory says that one user of these are the Suzuki Electric cars with LTO "front ends" to a std LiIon battery bank - allowing rapid charge under regenerative braking. The biggest barriers to widespread use of LTO are cost and low energy density. https://www.scib.jp/en/product/cell.htm <- Excellent SCiB overview datasheet https://www.scib.jp/en/download.htm <- SCiB documents. https://www.scib.jp/en/product/index.htm <- Product page.
