The stuff we get from microchipdirect all comes fedex, often direct
from Thailand where a lot of their goods are packaged (as in put the black
stuff on the outside).   There is a shipping charge, but it's comparable to
everyone else who ships via UPS/Fedex.

Microchip seems to have largely moved to the direct sales model for a lot
of their customers.   I know getting >100 PC pricing from anyone other than
microchip direct is a pain in the rear.
