There's some nomenclature difference, but comparator 1 has the same inputs and outputs. Was there something specific which didn't work? But... The cost of a 16f18260I/P is $1.43/singles and $1.09/1000PCS. The PIC16F627A-I/P is $1.63/singles and $1.44/1000PCS. That's a lot of parts to pay for even a few hundred dollars worth of software work. It's hard to generalize on what pin count is cheapest, I will say that 18 pin parts seem to be less favored anymore, I think because surface mount makes the pin count not so critical. So you have some tiny parts with 6-8 pins, then it seems like you end up with 14 or 28 pin packages at the low end. So pretty much I'd select between those 3 pin counts.
