I have to agree that Dropbox is one of the truly great services. I have been using it for over ten years and find that the $10 a month fee or virtually unlimited access is a gear investment. Being able to work at home or in the office without having to worry about syncing is a gift that keeps on giving :-) But, and sorry to rain on your parade, I have found a major snag in my latest project. I am scanning all my paper object* files and putting them on Dropbox so that they canb be available to the whole team from their homes etc. Now I keep one directory for each object but some files refer to more than one object. In that case I put the file in the most relevant object's directory and place a link to it in the other object's directory Unfortunately Dropbox does not implement links which is a bit sad. My current thoughts on a work-round is to convert each link into a text file with a note about where the prime file is. Any betteridea? __________________________________________ David C Brown 43 Bings Road Whaley Bridge High Peak Phone: 01663 733236 Derbyshire eMail: dcb.home@gmail.com SK23 7ND web: www.bings-knowle.co.uk/dcb *Sent from my etch-a-sketch* On Mon, 23 Dec 2019 at 01:48, RussellMc wrote: > Many here will have a Dropbox account > If so, this email is not for you, nothing to see, here, move along .... > Otherwise - > > *SHORT: * > > Dropbox gives you 2 GB free online permanently file storage to start. > If I refer people to Dropbox I get 500 MB extra storage per referral > They also get 500 MB extra using this method. > Up to 16 GB extra free storage can be obtained this way > > I think Dropbox is marvellous. > I've so far never found any negative aspect (Ssssh). > If you join using the link below I get 500 GB extra storage. > You do too. > Please do. > > https://db.tt/e8VtvrkM > > *More Detail:* > > Dropbox is a fabulous (really) free (up to a size limit) web based file > storage and sharing service that allows you to access and share files on = a > wide range of devices. > eg save on iPhone or Android and retrieve elsewhere on PC or whatever. > > It provides (optional) syncing between multiple computers (almost) anywhe= re > on earth - if I store a file here to a selected folder it will be > available, usually withing minutes, to synced computers worldwide. > > A friend of mine uses it as a "pipeline" - adds changes files from his > workplace at days end - these are removed and used to update a remote > computer.
