433 is legal, but is shared with hams.  Similarly 902-928 can be used, but =
it's also a ham band.

Humidity:  Tropospheric ducting in the 2m and 70cm bands bring stations 100=
's of miles away in like they were nextdoor.
A friend of mine used to contest from 6M up through 24GHz, and routinely wo=
rked Indiana to Texas on those bands, from a modest tower in farm country.
