Hi Russell, Perhaps it's time for a parable. The chief of police and his captain were watching the annual Founder's Day = parade. The captain puts a piece of chewing gum in his mouth, crumples up t= he wrapper, and throws it in the gutter. With a twinkle in his eye, the chi= ef says "Shall I expect your resignation soon, or will you wait until an of= ficial inquiry?" Both of them know the streets will be swept after the para= de. The captain does feel a little defensive and gives a long explanation f= or his infraction, and the chief replies, "Sorry if this has been an embarr= assment". Unknown to them, a couple of members of the local amateur radio c= lub marching in the parade overhear the chief's first comment. That night s= ome chatter develops, and someone else mentions he heard the chief talk abo= ut the captain being embarrassed. Letters to the editor in support of the c= aptain appear in the local newspaper, and that night's city council meeting= is packed, some people with handmade signs saying things like "Captain Mic= k is Not an Em! barrassment" and "Chief Beebe is a Boob". Speaking of infractions, craigslist is a popular classified ad website here= in the US. Frequently I see people giving away used cat furniture. Knowing= a bit about the subject, I posted an ad with reasons why introducing used = cat items into your home isn't a great idea. It was a good article, and I i= mmediately started getting replies from people who found the advice useful = or otherwise agreed with me. The ad was up for a few hours before it was fl= agged and removed for a violation of the terms of use, which it obviously w= as (I was not buying or selling anything). I guess the point is, just because something is popular, doesn't mean it's = not an infraction. Everything needs to be taken in context. We'd all do wel= l to lighten up a bit. And everyone needs to be treated kindly, especially = those without a well-developed sense of humor. Friendly regards, Bob ________________________________________ From: piclist-bounces@mit.edu on behalf of Russel= lMc Sent: Sunday, August 4, 2019 8:33 AM To: Microcontroller discussion list - Public. Most of the time anyway, in each case :-). We have had our moments over the years :-) :-( :-). Bob - please ignore the odd somewhat beyond the pale comment I'm sure I didn't really just see :-) We have had a reasonably harmonius list for some while and it would be a shame to allow a few ructions to disturb things overly.
