Does anyone have any experience in the design or specification of rotary
vane air compressors in the 1 - 2 HP power and say 15-30 psi pressure
ranges?

They LOOK easy.
How hard can it be?
Somebody may wish to disillusion me :-)

Aspects of interest include using motor speeds outside the usual ranges (as
high kV BLDC motors tend to be lower cost), acquired wisdom re deals,
longevity, efficiency, ... AND anything else.
