My daughter is visually impaired. She and other blind people use Dragon Naturally Speaking. It had gotten remarkably good over the last 10 or 15 years. Amazon has a version for $26.99US: https://www.amazon.com/Nuance-Dragon-K409A-G00-13-0-Naturall ySpeaking-Home/dp/B00LX4BZAQ It used to come bundled with WordPerfect Office. Subject: RE: [OT]:: Speech recognition software . Russell, I used to work with a guy that had (has) ALS. As time went on, he had less and less use of his arms. But to stay productive, and continue doing is job (He is a Phd EE), he used Dragon software I believe. It was very accurate, was relatively simple to setup, learn, and use.=20 And the cost was reasonable. You could give it a shot. I believe the cost was less than $200.00 USD. He has since retired, and had some sort of experimental treatment performed on him. I speak to him on occasion and the last I spoke to him, he was maintaining the status quo and not getting worse. I don't know if that treatment will ever get him into remission, but not getting worse is a big deal.=20 Regards, Jim > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: [OT]:: Speech recognition software . > From: RussellMc > Date: Tue, February 19, 2019 6:14 am > To: "Microcontroller discussion list - Public." > Cc: "ken@elecsyn.com" , Jeff Finger > , David Daniel > , Dennis Sanner , > RossGMail , VHome , Owen > McMahon , ApptechNZ >=20 >=20 > *- My typing ability has been "somewhat impeded" and will be slower than > usual for some while *- see below*. > (Broken clavicle (collar bone) - said 6 to 8 weeks in sling.
