If your problem is host name resolution, you can probably do this: 1) Run a WINS server on your storage machine. 2) On the workstations, go to network adapter settings, IPV4 Advanced and tell it where to find the WINS server. I think WINS has been deprecated for about a decade but it still works. Do you use DHCP? If so you would probably want to assign a fixed IP for the WINS server. You can set a reservation in the DHCP server to do this. In a previous post I mentioned Storage Spaces, I forgot to mention it defaults to a dedicated share folder but it is easy to change it and share the entire drive.
