Spent some time on this this afternoon with some level of success. It still
feels like I flailed around helplessly until something worked, but I was
able to copy files from one machine to another.
Probably the most helpful was this page

Towards the end it mentions that I should be able to access the remote
machine with \\IPaddress\ShareName
That worked instantly, no idea if any of the hours of flailing about before
that helped.
