As the man ( Sergio ) says, get hold of some methylene chloride (Dichloromethane) It is 70% + of what this Ecostrip stuff is The phenol and formic acid are minor components, I suspect to render the resulting goo more viscous, so it sticks to the wire whilst the solvent does its job.
