hahaha I did something similar once while playing with a high speed camera. I was making a video of a large contactor closing at about 2,000 frames per second. I had a 600W halogen lamp only about 1 foot away from the contactor, which was sitting on a fabric-covered folding chair. The light was so bright that I couldn't see the fabric charring - but there was smoke wafting from somewhere. When I shut off the light I could see that the fabric was slightly discolored and too hot to touch!
