Let's say I have a 10 AH rated gel cell VRLA battery. If I consistently use= this hypothetical battery to a 50% depth of discharge and get 850 cycles o= ut of it, I've gotten 4250 AH of use from it. If I have another identical b= attery that I get only 500 cycles, but at a depth of discharge of 85%, I've= still gotten 4250 AH of use. These are fake numbers, of course. It is "common knowledge" that anything more than 20% DOD shortens the life = of lead-acid batteries, but where's the point that it starts or stops makin= g economic sense, especially when it comes to batteries that are in cyclic = use? Does anyone know of any somewhat trustable numbers regarding depth of = discharge and cycle life of VRLA batteries(gel cell or any other type)? I'd= love to see data on that. Thanks!
