David, For home hobby purposes, I've gotten the core halves and bobbins from surplus/eBay sources. For professional work, I have been able to just tell companies (like Wurth Electronics/Midcom in my particular case) what core material, core size, and bobbin size (all from standard parts), number of turns and wire size, and they made samples. I assume that they would have sent me the piece parts, too, if I had asked.
