Sorry, that was a bit ambiguous. What I meant was that if there's no revers=
e
polarity protection on the device being powered then the cap could discharg=
e
into it

My original assumption was that somehow the diode+cap were supposed to
be some sort of hum filter, rather than the diode being RPP for the cap=20
