It is. You never know what you'll find until you look

For comparison, here are the waveforms into 4R7 at about the
same current, 1008mA vs 1073mA into 3R4. Scale is 3V/div,
so the step in the FET d trace is 5V

The 3R4 waveform also has the same overall cyclic appearance
as in the lower half but is tricky to trigger on for a good picture.
I'm not sure why it would have 'breaks' in it as you'd think the
chip would be trying to maintain output all the time ie on every
gate pulse. Maybe it's the odd waveforms on the comparator i/p
