So, I was struggling with this state machine, dependent on an external
signal so messy to debug with the debugger, and running out of places
to stick LEDs.

Then it hit me - a couple years ago I had come up with a serial
graphics terminal; I could get as much detail as I want for the cost of
a single pin. Dunno why it took me so long to remember that, as I had
blogged on it only a few days before.

Within a few hours I had my problem solved, in spite of being
disorganized enough to draw a trace of the incoming signal on the
display.

So what should show up on Facebook the very next day, but a picture
from two years earlier, one of those "Your Memories", when I received
the first revision of the PCB the terminal was built on!

weird.
