I tried the Schottky and cap and it is not going to work unless I put a=20 1000uF cap in there. The droop (10ms) too long and current (50mA) is=20 too high. And I use up .3V headroom due to the Schottky. Time for plan B. Increase the voltage into the device and run the uC=20 off of a separate voltage regulator.
