Was just soldering something and my bench lamp fell apart; shattered
soft metal element where the magnifier ring and lamp was attached to
the arm.

It's had a good life.  Almost ten years.

Can anyone recommend a bench lamp with magnifier lens that may last
longer than ten years?  ;-)
