Those .dev files are used by MPLAB (and AFAIK by some third party software)=
,
not by the assembler.
(as gpasm BTW)
It would be great if the assembler/linker were configurable...=A0=20

The MPLAB 8 series has a processor definition file that maps all the memory
and I/O areas for each chip along with things like programming voltage and
other sneaky bits that the IDE needs to know to program up a chip. It is a
text file and readily found. Open a DOS window and search for 18f14k22.*
using the /s switch on dir. Then look in the files it finds and you will se=
e
what I mean.

And I am surprised you mention using MPLAB 8.56 - is there a reason you are
not using 8.92, the last version?
