Old news: Micorchip buys Atmel (link at [1])

Its been almost 6 months, no apparent changes yet. The question is, what
will they do with the myriad of conflicting product lines?

While it is nice to be have the existing customer and sales base, I doubt
that they will resist the temptation to "streamline" Atmel and its product
offerings forever.
