I know this is really late adding to the thread.... First, I second the use of flash, but of course use a good brand (like Sand= isk...gotta put a plug in for us right?) but I've had issues with cheap uSD= cards in cameras, so a high speed version ought to work great AND it does = have all the wear leveling, etc built into the controller. Totally differe= nt group but I know what they are doing over there.. The full cage sockets? I'm not sold on those, I've had issues. Secure it = down is my suggestion. Using external DDR would essentially require its own micro just to manage t= he refresh. Now saying that, you could move to a bigger processor like a S= AM that has built in DDR controllers. OR....just heard this yesterday from= one of the other engineers, that Atmel is coming out with a ARM core that = has internal DDR. How cool is that?
