just a thought ......

Square up the Audacity output and capture the pulse widths into
RAM, then store them in Flash as NCO loads. That way you
won't have to do any measuring. As the '08 has only 256 bytes of
RAM you'd have to do some post-sampling interpolation for more
data as you could store just 125-ish 16-bit values at the time

Enough RAM if you capture every other pulse ?
