Hi Russell: Thanks for the links. I learned about this in 2104 from the book _/Good Calories Bad Calories/_ b= y Gary Taubes 2007. Note that his first book was: 1993 /Bad Science: The Short Life and Weird T= imes of Cold Fusion=20 /. After that book came out=20 some of his physics friends said that if he really wanted to see some Bad S= cience he should look into diet and=20 nutrition. See my diet an nutrition web page for a chronological annotated= bibliography on this: http://www.prc68.com/I/DietNutrition.html#Annotated_Biblography There is an ongoing study at Stanford (hundreds of students over a few year= s) that's looking at weight gain, diet and=20 controlled for genetic markers. This came about because in the 2003 A TO Z= (*A*tkins, *T*raditional, *O*rnish and=20 *Z*one diets) there was more variation in outcomes inside each diet than th= ere was between diets. So something else=20 must be at work and the best guess is that's something related to DNA. The= results may be out later this year, see: http://www.prc68.com/I/DietNutrition.html#NuSI ------------------------MMT----------- If you want to see another example of Bad Social Science check out Modern M= onetary Theory: http://www.end2partygovernment.com/2012Issues.html#MMT 1. Sovereign governments do not need to raise money by taxes in order to sp= end. The "Washington Consensus" is wrong and=20 is one of the reasons for Brexit. 2. National debt is by definition equal to private sector surplus, i.e. a g= ood thing. Based on MMT the collapse of the EMU was forecast a couple of years after i= t was formed, and the Global Financial Crisis=20 was forecast where one of the factors leading to it was the Clinton budget = surplus (a very bad thing).=20 http://www.end2partygovernment.com/2012Issues.html#MMT_Key_Years --=20 Have Fun, Brooke Clarke http://www.PRC68.com http://www.end2partygovernment.com/2012Issues.html The lesser of evils is still evil. --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
