The biggest problem I see with Win10 is that it appears Microsoft may be mo=
ving to the 'annual fee' model from the 'pay once and get free updates whil=
e they are prepared to support it' model. This may be another thing to cons=
ider if considering the possibility of moving to Linux.

It may be that having an annual license fee is not a problem - after all yo=
u will have this with the Microchip compilers (although just recently they =
have introduced a monthly as you need it method, see http://www.microchip.c=
om/forums/m934225.aspx (if you can get it to open without a lot of 404 erro=
rs).
