In the absence of "proper' charging management, do not charge above
1.4V/cell.
*** DO NOT *** trickle charge once this voltage is reached such that
voltage is allowed to rise.

Older NimH under about 1600 mAh had recombination arrangements to convert
electrolysis products back to water.
Newer ones (above ~=3D that capacity) do not have this and WILL vent and dr=
y
out.
The old "1% trickle or 10% trickle is OK" no longer applies.

Keep batteries as cool as possible.
40 C is on the high side if lower is possible.

Cutoff voltage needs to be accurate or low.
Vmax varies with charge rate.
Erring on the low side reduces capacity but increases lifetime.
Set too high and the cells will charge forever.
