Hi all, It's been about 10 years since I've had an opportunity to visit the PIClist again. Nice to see some familiar names still here. On the web, I found an old calculator that I used to own back in the 70's (the Hewlett Packard HP-45) and it brought back a few memories of my earlier days. I get a bit of free time being a pilot these days, so I thought I might resurrect myself a bit and see if I could create one of my own just for something to do. I got a bit carried away though and created the whole Classic Series of calculators from that period and used a PIC16F877 chip which decodes and executes the original software for the HP35, HP45, HP55, HP65, HP70 and HP80 models including memory cards for the HP-65. The PCB layout is arranged the same and the display uses similar 7 segment bubble LED display modules although the PIC has support for a secondary LCD display if required. An accompanying Windows program allows you to use each of the calculator types on screen, or open them up and view the working internal registers plus simulate, modify and experiment with the operating code. The PC program also communicates with the calculator via the USB port and lets you upgrade the PIC driver software, change calculator models and transfer programs to the HP-65 memory cards. If anyone has an interest in these old calculators, the project can be downloaded for free from www.teenix.org cheers Tony --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
