I didn't mean to suggest that we should blame the person who is feeling pushed toward suicide. I just mean that usually the problems or illness which are the root cause of the suicidal ideation or acts can often be made better eventually but actually committing suicide makes sure that the problem is never solved. And I say this as someone who has experienced depression over the course of years, been treated with pretty good success, but I had a few months a long time ago when the thought of suicide would cross my mind a few times per day. I am very grateful that those around me did not consider it an acceptable solution. Then again, they also did not commit me to an institution and if they had, it probably would have made it worse.
