How similar are the charging algorithms for LiPoly and LiFePO4?

Assume you have a pack with a DS2756 fuel gauge and two LiFePO4 cells,
and you want to replace them with LiPoly because the LiFePO4 cells are
no longer available or priced beyond budget, might the voltage and
current inputs to the DS2756 be offset?
